REV’IT Sport International – suppliers to Alvaro of leathers and gloves for this 2010 season, have very kindly supplied us with an exclusive desktop wallpaper design to share with you. We told them how much we like sharing download goodies with all the fans up here on the sites and the forum, and as a result they’ve very kindly produced a fantastic, moody widescreen desktop in 3 sizes to suit your monitor; 1920×1200, 1680×1050 and 1440×900.
It’s based on the publicity shot that was used to announce the partnership between Alvaro and REV’IT! but has been altered to shift colours and to change the background texture.

Yay, MotoGP’s back this weekend, and to help get you in the mood you should pop over to LiveJournal to grab some excellent new web icons for forums and bulletin boards by the awesome stv21

MotoGP.com Release Awesome iPhone App
I have a (possibly ever-so slightly deserved) reputation as a bit of a geek / nerd / saddo when it comes to anything Mac or iPhone related. So, imagine my joy then, when I was pointed at a dedicated iPhone app from MotoGP.com
Let’s face it, MotoGP and Dorna have been way more innovative, smart and genuinely rewarding in their approach to online delivery than F1 – and far better at doing something of genuine interest to punters (like the excellent After The Flag podcasts).
And so perhaps this Application is no great surprise. Doesn’t mean that it’s not worth a bit of a rave though…
It’s a thoroughly tasty piece of work from start to finish, playing both to their own strengths in content and data, and the iPhone’s strengths in interface and usability.
The key to it of course is dynamic data – in this case, live timing with race lap, rider position, lap time, gap time, and top speed. And nice touches like rotating the iPhone into ‘horizontal’ position to get a full live timing view, and live commentary from the MotoGP crew as well.
The app also provides access to race results, championship results, latest news, rider profiles, competition calendars and schedules, and a huge photo gallery.
Aside from all the good functionality, it also has the MotoGP.com excellent branding DNA, and attention to detail, in buckets. It’s one of the slickest looking apps I’ve seen. (*And I’ve seen more than enough to prove I should get out more…)
To be honest it’s a steal at only £1.79 and certainly an invaluable addition to the tech tools of anyone who loves MotoGP and their gadgets.
For some bizarre reason MotoGP.com have disabled ‘embedding’ of their Youtube demo of the app – which is a real shame as it’d be nice to just plonk it on the page here and share it on other sites and blogs, but if you click on this link then you can watch it anyway…

Alvaro Bautista Catalunya Helmet Desktop Icons
To celebrate Alvaro’s superb victory at Catalunya last weekend, it seems only right that the best way to do it is with a set of desktop icons of his special “Man of La Mancha” helmet.
As per usual I’ve done a set of Mac OSX and a set for Windows XP/Vista, each of which contains two icons of the helmet – one with a drop-shadow and one without.
All carefully crafted and alpha-channelled to pimpify your computer desktop to the very best effect.

Not desktop icons this time, but icons of the “web” variety – nice, crafted graphics for you to use as avatars on forums and blogs.
And they’re not by me either.
So all kudos to… stv21 on the Sonrisa de Talavera blog for this set and also to ruushki for this set.
Both artists go way beyond Alvaro so you’ll find some other MotoGP, motor sport and even entertainment figures in these collections.
As ever with this kind of thing, do pay attention to any requirements for crediting and sharing – or not sharing – their work.

Alvaro Bautista “Angelic Devil” Desktop Wallpaper
We all know that Alvaro’s mascot is a little diablo – and that he revels in that image. (although there’s nothing actually “serious” in it; it very much a *mischeivous* icon really, rather than an *evil* one.)
But anyone who’s met him at races, or seen him in his hometown habitat will also know that there’s a very good natured, angelic side to him too. So here’s a new “angelic” (sort of… ish… there’s the occasional touch of devilish splatters and tendrils) desktop wallpaper design of Alvaro.
Not entirely clear where the actual design / aesthetic idea came from – weird but hopefully cool…
Available in two high quality widescreen JPEG options.

Alvaro Bautista ‘08 Helmet Desktop Icons For Mac OSX
Alvaro had two main helmet designs in the 2008 season; a standard one (on his new Suomy lid) that was a hotch-potch of blue and red and white – and not terribly elegant – and another that was very much red and silver and which owed more to the cool stylings of his 2007 helmet.
I’ve converted this second one into a couple of icons for those of you out there who use Mac OSX. (Though I’ll get on with sorting out a Windows version soon of course…)
The set comprises of two options: one being a basically ‘clean’ version, and the other having a nifty little drop-shadow that will look pretty swish on your desktop (particularly if it’s a Batifans.com desktop wallpaper download).

Downloadable 2009 BikeSport Calendars
I’ve made a bunch of iCals to help keep tabs on all the important dates next year. iCal is an application on the Mac, which uses the open .ics calendar format – which means that you can also use these in various Windows and Linux applications such as Microsoft Works (Version 8 or higher), WinDates, Mozilla Calendar, Sunbird and Zimbra.

Alvaro Bautista Mosaic Poster (A1 Size)
In a determined effort to put my Alvaro-related picture library (or “The Stash” as it is known in these parts…) to some good use, I’ve made one of those cool Mosaic posters, where you create a single (or apparently single) large image out of a vast quantity of smaller images.
In my initial experiments I found that shots in the box and ones that involved too much general detail didn’t really work out and that a cleaner, simpler image with a dulled-off background and a distinct foreground image worked out best by far.
So the result is an image of Alvaro leaning it in – from one of the Aspar Team’s excellent high resolution race images – made up of some 7,396 tiles comprising 2,685 individual pictures from Alvaro’s entire career, Talavera de la Reina, and other random Bati-related pics such as helmets on eBay etc!
The result, as shown above, is now available as a huuuuuuuuuuuuge high-resolution file that will gladly print out at A1 size (and probably even A0) and is a special Christmas prezzie for all the members of the BatiFans.com Avaro Bautista Fan Forum and which you can get by clicking here… (*Members Only)
