Last Lap Crash Closes Frustrating Brno Weekend

Ah well – what looked like being a vaguely “up” end to the Czech GP came to grief after all when Alvaro dropped the bike on the very last lap of the race. While it’s a great relief that he was fit enough to take to the track – and also excellent to see him doing some passing – it was a real blow to see the run ultimately end like this. READ MORE

Brno – A bit of history…

This year will be the 41st occasion that a Grand Prix event will have been staged at Brno. The first Grand Prix to be held at Brno was back in 1965 on the old road circuit which measured 13.94 km. The circuit remained essentially the same until 1975, when it was shortened to the 10.92 km circuit that was used up until 1982, at which time it was deemed no longer up to the safety standards required for Grand Prix racing. Frustrating Crash Leads Into Mid-Season Break

Well, raceday didn’t turn out well after all as Alvaro was yet again the victim of another incident as Aleix Espargaro knocked Suzuki’s Spanish rider out of the race at the start of the third lap. Bati had already got into a good rhythm and had passed a couple of other riders before Espargaro’s intervention bought his race to an abrupt end for the second week in succession. READ MORE

Laguna Seca Qualifying Bodes Well For Raceday

Alvaro made significant improvements during Saturday’s final practice and qualifying sessions for the American Grand Prix, shaving almost two-and-a-half seconds off his best time from Friday. Both he and Loris are in a positive mood ahead of the race around the 3,610m Laguna Seca circuit, as they believe that the improvements will continue though the 32-laps of the race. READ MORE

Sachsenring: FP1 Times

Alvaro tried both his Rizla Suzuki GSV-Rs with different settings during today’s practice sessions to give him the right direction for the rest of the weekend. He certainly favoured one over the other at this tight, twisty and very demanding track and will be looking to make the correct improvements to that set-up tomorrow, as he aims to continue with the strong form he showed at the last race.
